Quarterbacks: Controversy vs Competition

QB Competition As the Redskins season nears, the fog of who will be the starting quarterback has yet to clear. In the next few weeks, we’ll...

Round 1 : Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming
"In this scenario with Kirk Cousins leaving via Free Agency, the Redskins are left scrambling for options at the Quarterback position. In this mock, Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold are both off the board, leaving my #3 QB in the draft available. Allen still has some mechanics and accuracy issues to work on, but his big arm and size potential is that of a Ben Roethlisberger."

Round 2 : Kerryon Johnson, RB, Auburn
"Samaje Perine has shown flashes of being a RB1, but is that enough to book him in as a franchise starter? Chris Thompson is a great receiving back, but isn't anything special in the run game and Robert Kelley has been average so far. Johnson brings a home-run threat ability to any backfield and will help bring life to a Redskins run game that's been struggling since 2013."
Round 3 : Harrison Phillips, DT, Stanford
"Ziggy Hood isn't in the team's long term plans and Stacy McGee is better suited at Defensive End. Phillips is my #6 DT in the draft and #2 NT after Washington's Vita Vea, who would be gone at this point. The Redskins need a Nose Tackle, and badly. However, spending a first round pick on one would be ill advised. Phillips will shut down the opposing team's run game, even if it's only for 10-15 plays a game."
Round 4 : Mike McCray, LB, Michigan
Round 5 : Bryce Bobo, WR, Colorado
Round 6 : Ike Boettger, T, Iowa
Round 7 : Noah Jefferson, DE, USC
Round 7 : Deatrick Nichols, CB, USF
