Round 1: Deionte Thompson - Safety - Alabama

The Redskins released standout safety D.J. Swearinger. HaHa Clinton-Dix is not under contract for the 2019 season, and he struggled for the team this year. Montae Nicholson was arrested for public intoxication and assault, his future is uncertain. Safety went from one of the team's strengths to arguably it’s biggest weakness in a matter of weeks. Deionte Thompson is a stud, he’s truly an elite center-fielder who can shine in a single high scheme. He’s a sure tackler who’s not afraid of bringing the wood. Redskins love them some Alabama players, and Thompson is both great value and a team need.

Round 2: Deebo Samuel - Wide Receiver - South Carolina

The Redskins need to add some explosiveness at receiver. With the uncertainty at the Quarterback position, if the team hopes to score and push the ball down the field they’ll need to get the ball out quickly with screens and short passes. Samuel is the perfect playmaker for this gameplan. A great athlete, Samuel can take the dink and dunk passes to the house.

Round 3: Christian Miller - Edge - Alabama

A quiet gem for the Crimson Tide defense, Christian Miller was gaining a lot of steam among the draft community. Unfortunately he tore his hamstring in the college football playoffs, but if the Redskins can scoop him in the third it’ll be a great fit. Preston Smith’s future with the Redskins is in question, he may chase a bigger paycheck somewhere else, and if that’s the case than drafting his replacement becomes more likely. A combination of re-singing Pernell McPhee and drafting Miller would be a solid rotation.

Round 3: Easton Stick - Quarterback - North Dakota State

Redskins need a QB that they can hope to lead their franchise in the future. Stick is a great candidate because he’s not mentally ready for the NFL, but he has all the physical tools to succeed. Stick can sit behind Colt McCoy and Josh Johnson while learning to play the position in the NFL. Stick has a skillset that will really shine in Jay Gruden’s offense.

Round 5: Caleb Wilson - Tight-End - UCLA

Vernon Davis is ancient and Jordan Reed makes a lot more money than he should, I believe tight-end is a quiet need for the Redskins. Wilson is similar to Reed in the fact that he provides a mismatch with his size and speed. Go watch his 2017 game against Texas A&M and tell me he won’t be an impact player.

Round 5: Patrick Vahe - Interior Offensive Line - Texas

I would’ve liked to give the Redskins a left guard earlier, but I hope they can sign one in free agency as a short term solution and draft a development player here. Vahe has good power as a run blocker but needs to develop as a pass protector.

Round 6: Gary Johnson - Linebacker - Texas

Johnson made plays all over the field at UT. With the Rueben Foster expected to make his return next year and Shaun Dion-Hamilton showing improvement last season, the Redskins just need to add depth. Johnson provides depth while bringing upside as a rotational starter.

Round 6: Bryan Peavy - Cornerback - Iowa State

Peavy is someone I really like in the late rounds. He’s small but a fierce competitor. I believe Peavy can develop into a star slot cornerback with some time.

Round 7: Felton Davis - Wide Receiver - Michigan St.

A big bodied receiver who made some big plays in his career at MSU. Drafting him for a camp body with some developmental upside.
