3 KEYS TO A VICTORY ON SUNDAY

The 3-2 Redskins will face off against the 3-3 Cowboys in what is probably the most important game so far this season for the team. A lot rides on the outcome of this game, a victory would give the Redskins a little bit of breathing room in the NFC East, and it would give them a 4-2 record, much better than 3-3. It won't come easy though, as the Cowboys haven't lost to the Redskins in a regular season match up since a meaningless week 17 game in 2015. Dallas is also coming off of a very impressive victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars. If the Redskins can do these 3 things, then they should walk out of Sunday's game with a victory.

1 : Contain Ezekiel Elliott and Cole Beasley

The Cowboys' offense operates much like the Panthers' offense that the Redskins were able to limit this past week, they rely heavily on the run game and don't take many risks through the air. However, the Cowboys offensive line has been dominant for awhile, and while their offensive line has taken a slight step back from recent years, they are still a cohesive and talented group. Also, they have the best pure runner in the NFL in Ezekiel Elliot running behind them. It's clear that the way to take down the Cowboys is to limit their rushing attack and force Dak Prescott to make tough throws in tight windows. While the Cowboys don't have much talent at Wide Receiver and Tight End, Cole Beasley is the main guy that concerns me heading into Sunday. Beasley has torched the Redskins defense in the past, and he is coming off of a 2 touchdown game against the Jaguars. Fabian Moreau will really be put to the test this Sunday.

2 : Running The Football

This one is obvious. When the Redskins run the ball well, they don't lose. When they are inefficient on the ground, they lose. Adrian Peterson has proven that he can still run the ball with aggression and decisiveness. Jay Gruden can't get away from running the football and the offensive line needs to continue creating holes for Peterson. It won't be easy against a stiff Cowboys defensive front however. 

3 : Chew Clock, Sustain Drives.

Easier said then done, but chewing clock and sustaining long drives, ending in points will ultimately be the key. The Cowboys' style of offense could drain the energy out of the defense if they are out there too long. From bringing down Ezekiel Elliott, to chasing down the mobile Dak Prescott, it will be important for the Redskins to not put them in bad situations. That means that they need to move the ball down the field consistently and need to stay true to their roots, which is pounding the ball down the defense's throat.
